On 1 October 2012 Volcano Films ceased operations, during its time it produced 75 hit films and financed a further 20 films. It was probably one of the UK's best independent film studios and provided over 200 people with jobs. However in August 2011 the company was acquired by a leading film studio which began operating the studio on a smaller scale and stripped most of its assets, eventually profits dropped and a major financing deal was took out. Not long after in January 2012 Adam Blake (CEO from 1998-2005) & Ben Harper (former employee) decided to acquire the film studios, which now had only 40 employees & 2 films in production. They attempted to revive the previous success the company had, they faced many problems including rising debt, lack of equipment and no partnerships in place. In Autumn 2012 the pair decided that they should close Volcano Films to allow people to remember the film studios success rather than the problems it had in later years. The film studio's 75th & final film 'Truth' was released on 1 October 2012 and it marked the end of an era. Today on 8 May 2015 we can confirm that Volcano Films has been acquired by a investment firm (Kingswood Capital) and is hoping to reopen the brand as a operational film studio and to invest in filming facilities ready for the future of the British film industry.
